The Beloved Community in the Heart of the Valley

The topic for the day will be “The Beloved Community in the Heart of the Valley”. Ms. Córdova will discuss poverty, immigration and challenges in Silicon Valley and how we are called to respond to the neighbors in need among us. She will share her own personal and faith journey and how it led her to Santa Maria. She will discuss current endeavors at Santa Maria as well as offering an invitation to envision ways we can collaborate.   The mission of Santa Maria Urban Ministry is to provide our community with a safe, welcoming place for basic services that meet short-term needs and to promote permanent, uplifting transformation for client families through education, service and targeted programs.


Kathy joined Santa Maria as Executive Director in January 2018. She was born and raised in San Jose and is an SJSU graduate. Kathy has worked in the non-profit sector in the bay area for over twenty-five years. Her previous experience includes years as development director with schools and non-profits serving the San Jose area, including Sacred Heart Nativity Schools, Asian Americans for Community Involvement and West Valley Community Services.
