… to seek and serve Christ in all persons, and love our neighbors as ourselves; by striving for justice and peace among all people, and respecting the dignity of every human being. - from the Baptismal Covenant

Parishioners at Saint Jude’s Episcopal Church in Cupertino, strive to follow Jesus Christ and his Great Commandment to “love God with all our heart and soul and mind and strength...and love our neighbor as ourselves.”

St. Jude's Mission Covenant calls on the parish community to:

"Focus energy and resources to make a greater impact in social justice and outreach.  We will build on our tradition of social justice and outreach, and encourage all parishioners to make service a priority. We will engage with the larger community to identify a small number of long-term, localservice projects that are designed to address social issues, while respecting our existing local and global partnership."

Our Baptismal Covenant calls us to find ways to step out, to bear witness to Christ, love our neighbor, and respect the dignity of ever human being. It is a call to live out our beliefs through the choices we make.

For parishioners at St. Jude's, this call is as profound as conducting weekly bible studies at the Santa Clara County main jail, or being one with the children and community of Saint Patrick School in Locorbe, Haiti.

It is as simple as taking time to be a part of the lives of children in San Jose who come to Santa Maria Urban Ministry to learn, study and have fun in a safe place.  It is expressed as cooking brownies, or sharing pizza with homeless veterans, or making and serving a meal at the San Jose Family Shelter.
