Faithful families will be having their annual kick-off meeting on Sunday, September 21 from 5:30 to 7 PM. Faithful families is a gathering of families interested in a once-a-month gathering of families who are interested in fostering a close-knit community with other families. At these meetings, we have gathering time, a pot luck dinner, spiritual and folk songs, and a craft time. At the meeting we will set the entire year's schedule, which will be once a month gathering on a Sunday evening from 5:00 PM through 7:30 PM. Please bring to the meeting a calendar with the list of availability dates through May, 2009. Pizza and Child care will be provided. All interested families are welcome. If you have more questions, or know of other families who might be interested, please contact Tim Iben or Becky Davis or Pastor Dawn Theutorn.

Sunday School Teachers/Assistants Needed We have a wonderful group of Teachers and Assistants who share the faith with St. Jude's children in the Sunday School Program. Most of them would prefer volunteering once a month or less, so the more volunteers we have, the more often they can be in church to hear the sermon! In addition, the children get to benefit from intergenerational mentoring from MORE parishioners. Please prayerfully consider whether you would like to join in the program. Come to the meeting Sun. after church or contact Linda Morris.
Sunday School Messages
Summer Sunday School begins at 10:30 am. Please
sign in your children near the Nursery. K-5 will meet
in Room 5 and hear Because of Winn-Dixie, the award
winning book by Kate Di Camillo, followed by
their discussion. It is an engaging story of Opal, the
preacher’s daughter, and the big ugly suffering dog
she names Winn-Dixie. The preacher taught her to help
the less fortunate and clearly Winn-Dixie is that.
Opal is lonely and missing her mother. Because of
Winn-Dixie, she makes many friends. Because of
Winn-Dixie, she lovingly learns about her absent
mother; she learns to take action, to pray, and to
forgive. All these themes are present in the humorous
day-to-day adventures of Opal and beloved Winn-Dixie.
The children will have a fun summer Sunday School
experience and grow in their understanding of living
the Christian life.
Those in Middle School will be in church with their
families during the Summer.

Do you know about our St. Jude's Library?
Bishop Mary's online video is available here.
Stephen Ministers are now available. Several of our Stephen Ministers have recently concluded care giving assignments and now await new care receivers. If life has become a struggle or perhaps God seems very distant, you might consider this opportunity to have a confidential listener with whom to speak. If you wish more information, speak to one of our Stephen Leaders: Betsy Fox Fisher, Diane Snow, Susan Stanley, Jerry Witherspoon.
Ever wonder about the story behind the apricot stained glass window at St. Jude's?
