Planned Gifting

Planned Gifting is a way to make a considered choice about the disposition of your financial assets after you are gone. This can include ensuring a comfortable retirement for you while also providing for your loved ones and the organizations you care about.
Saint Jude’s emphasizes two types of Planned Gifting: Bequests in Wills or Trusts, and Charitable Gift Annunities with the Episcopal Church Foundation.
Bequests in Wills or Living Trusts
The simplest way to make a planned gift is by naming St. Jude’s in your will or living trust. A bequest is a meaningful way to support St. Jude’s without affecting your cash flow during your lifetime. Your attorney can include it when you prepare or revise your will/living trust.
St. Jude’s recommends unrestricted bequests which will be used at the discretion of Vestry. However you can instead make a bequest to the St. Jude’s Endowment Fund which has been established under the management of the St. Jude’s Endowment Fund Board, and which is managed with capital preservation in mind.
Please contact us for appropriate language for your bequest. You can also download a booklet from ECF with more information on end-of-life planning.
Charitable Gift Annuities with the ECF
A charitable gift annunity allows you to support St. Jude’s while receiving a cash payout each year and a tax deduction in the year you create the contract.
A charitable gift annuity is a simple contract between you and the Episcopal Church Foundation (ECF). In exchange for your irrevocable gift of cash or securities, ECF agrees to pay one or two beneficiaries whom you designate a fixed sum per year. One of these beneficiaries of the annuity is often you, as the donor.
You will be entitled to an income-tax deduction in the year you make the gift. On your death, ECF distributes the remainder of the gift to the charity of your choice (typically 10% to ECF and the remainder to St. Jude’s).
You can download a booklet here with more information.
