Learning Opportunities

Opportunities for Learning and Growth

Growing in spirit and knowledge fulfills our mission covenant through learning to live as disciples, supporting parishioners through every age, and strengthening our community by holding courageous conversations within a safe space. Below are some opportunities at St. Jude’s to learn, share and grow, and enjoyably get to know other people at St. Jude’s at the same time.

Note that we are not currently offering any in-person classes or learning opportunities, but are definitely still doing so online!  Please join us.

Regularly Scheduled Opportunities

Weekly Bible Study is led by our clergy usually on Sundays at 5pm (see our Announcements), and has a focus on one particular book of the bible at a time. New members and drop-in visitors are always welcome. Check our Announcements here to see what book is being studied currently. Our bible study is meeting using Zoom at this time.

Covenant Groups meet regularly for deeper personal study and relationships. The groups discuss the Bible, support one another on their spiritual journeys, pray for each other, and socialize. Meeting times vary depending on the group. These are often meeting via Zoom at this time.

We are not currently holding Sunday Forums, as they are traditionally held on Sunday mornings in the Parish Hall. The community forums highlight a wide variety of topics. Drop-in visitors are always welcome. Recordings are available! To listen to the most recent forum or older forums, click here. To find out what is our next forum topic, see the Announcements here.

Classes and Lecture Series

St. Jude’s 101 is a two-hour session held once per year (sometimes more often) and covers not only the history of St. Judes and why we do what we do, but also key aspects of the history of the Episcopal Church and Anglican Communion.

The Lay Eucharistic Minister (LEM) Training series is held when a parishioner is interested in becoming a LEM. All parishioners are welcome to become a LEM if they are confirmed or received in the Episcopal Church. Our LEMs are an active and vital part of our online services.

Lay Eucharistic Visitors also have training classes and are certified. These are held when a parishioner is interested in becoming a LEV. All parishioners are welcome to become a LEV if they are confirmed or received in the Episcopal Church.

Confirmation Classes occur when parishioners of any age are interested in being confirmed.
